Has anyone heard if NS will take several days off this year like they did last year. It would be nice to do some railfanning during the holiday break but there won't be much point if the trains aren't running.

They sent an email to customers advising they were shutting down operations from 3PM Christmas Eve till 10PM the 25th.

Good gosh ! Makes one wonder how essential railroad service is these days (although all workers/human beings deserve time off, to be with families).
Its great that the railroad gives their employees the time off, but my Dad who worked for the Milwaukee Road for 42 years would be amazed at that as it took him over 20 years to get a Christmas off because of lack of seniority. Times have changed.
Look at the bright side, they will be really busy for a couple of days after.
3pm Dec 24th to 10pm Dec 25th.
