I am suprized that the Illinois Terminal paint scheme wasn't considered,it's part of the Norfolk Southern Heritage too
I must say the more of these you create the more impressed I am at how the old schemes really look on the new power....alot better than I ever would have thought. Thanks for your efforts with these.
Amen. Frank Swafford, the DaVinci of the diesel shop.
I'd certainly be in for a Lionel Pennsy Legacy ES44AC. Whatever the final scheme.

C&O,
The Illinois Terminal paint scheme has already been done by another railroad on a few locomotives.....

Swafford, those Southern units look terrific. I will say again, you do great work.

Can't wait to a READING again !!!
I never have been a Reading fan but I must admit that does look really good.
I really looking forward to the Reading. However, I'm hoping for a more traditional Reading paint scheme, either green/yellow or all green with yellow lettering.
Jim
I'm still hoping that the LV unit displays the Cornell red livery. More representative, IMO, of the glory years of the LV. And more distinctive than the "black and white" scheme.

Good Day,
Has there been any news on when these Heritage engines will be presented?

Frank

It will indeed be the Cornell Red styling. The big issue right now is getting the CORRECT Cornell Red color. Dupont is currently working on that issue now!

Every once in a while hopes and dreams do come true. Thanks for the info.
Don't know if this would be any help, but Finger Lakes Railway has a couple of locos painted in "Cornell Red". Don't know if they used the exact historical formula but it was claimed at the time that the scheme was a correct representation of the LV livery.

Here's an official link to the artwork on the NS site -
Hmmmm I liked Swaffords NKP better, but the Southern scheme looks good as does the NYC.
I'm happy! I like the proposed green/yellow bee-line service paint scheme for the Reading unit. I'll probably match up a NS engine with the Reading engine to pull my Gundersons.
I hope that both MTH and Lionel are contacting NS to get the ball rolling!

My god I need sunglasses for that baby...
That is beautiful...
With Pb out of paint, the colours of the stuff has changed!

Good find and a nice write up, Thanks.
Would be great to see the NKP unit in Bellevue with the 765 this summer. Even better yet, the Alco PA Bluebird 190 as well.

Diesels? We don't need no stinkin' diesels!
For those interested in keeping score, 8098 and 8099 are in the booths this week. 8100 and 8101 are now on site at Altoona and Chattanooga, respectively, awaiting their turn in the booths. Current scheduling calls for delivery of four units in April and six in May.
Bottom line -- heritage fleet will be on the rails in fairly short order.

Good Day Poppyl,
Curious, which heritage railroads match these road numbers? 8098, 8099, 8100 & 8101

Those are the numbers as the units are received by NS. It is my understanding that the heritage units will display a number consistent with their fallen flag numerology. As an example, it's being reported that the NW unit will be 1775 after its re-paint.
I'm still trying to confirm separately the NW number as well as the planned road names/numbers for the units delivered so far.

The official DL&W paint scheme looks terrific! On the other hand, the tuscan PRR unit is not too pretty. Wish they'd do a DLGE (Brunswick) 5 stripe, or even a DGLE freight single stripe.

As sometimes happens, I was misinformed on the road number situation for the heritage units. They will display the NS numerology. 1065 - 1074 for the SD70ACe's and 8098 - 8115 for the ES44AC's.
Swafford -- my apologies for the confusion.
Poppyl
Does any way have a complete list of what number will go with what roadname?
