Yes the 4-4-4 706/156.
The smallest "S" type locos Lionel produced was the 150 (1918-1925) with a 5" cab and the 158 (1919-1923) also a 5" cab but with two dummy headlights and no bell.

Gee, hard to say, but wasn't the 156 also an S type? That was pretty big for that era O gauge.
Arguably the most realistic looking tinplate O gauge models of the NYC S type...
(from smaller to larger) (there are a few more smaller ones not pictured as well).

Ives1122, I was getting photos together to make the same post. Couldn't agree more. Anyone looking for a larger engine faithful to the S2 prototype would find it in the long-frame 3254-3255.
Ives are nice engines, good looking and smooth running. Love O and standard gauge. Wish I had a lot more than I do.
Classic 1920s toy trains.
Unfortunately, Lionel did NOT get it right with the otherwise wonderful 408E! The hood configuration is all wrong!
Same with the 381E, but they did get the hood shape right with the BRUTE!
I kinda like the Ives 3253. Not sure why, I just do. lol

Because it's AWESOME!
In my opinion, Ives trains are much better looking than Lionel trains. However, all of the tinplate S Type locomotives look strange because of their wheel arrangements.
Thanks all for responding to my post.
