Was considering making the long trek to O scale West next month.
I need something else to justify the trip and cost to get there.
Anything else that is going on that might be worth seeing or doing while in the area? 3 Rail O Gauge, model train shows or other train related events north or east of O scale West??

Weekend before is Salt Lake train meet and Amtrak has some discounts on right now?? but a bit of a trip.

O scale west is good enough to justify a trip all by itself but you absolutely must see the Sacramento museum. Maybe drop in to the museum in Niles canyon if it is open. Sadly I will not make it - first time I have missed since it started. There will be some bargains - collections of two of my friends will be there.

To add to bob2's answer, see the O Scale West website www.oscalewest.com for more things to do.

I'll second the CSRM in Sacramento. And you can spend a night on the Delta King hotel moored about a block away. Both are within walking distance of the Sacramento Amtrak Station.
