First of all, build a layout that your happy with, that you'll enjoy working on and running your trains. Feel free to ask any questions relating to detailing, electrical, and track layout.

My dealer referred to my layout at the club as a 1930's Hi-Rail layout. So maybe you are a 1930's Hi-Railer like me.

Why do you feel the need to be labeled?

How about Professional Senior Operator of Trains in Miniature?  You could even tell people this is your vocation and that your hobby is whatever it is that you do with the time remaining after you run trains.

I suppose it makes you a happy camper and that's what counts.

You are also now obligated to share photos when you're done! haha

Thanks for all of those replies.  I blame the Tinplate board for getting me interested in tinplate cars.  (I should'a never looked at those pictures!)

CAUTION: Please, for your peace of mind, do not look at any standard gauge tinplate for an extended period of time!

It makes you my best buddy. So when can I come over and play trains? Also be careful looking at tin plate pix too much, you'll grow hair on your palms.

Tom Snyder had a tinplate layout with realistic scenery. It was featured in a TM documentary. The effect was great. I think the layout was moved to the New Jersey Highrailers facility, although someone may correct me on that.

I don't know, Manny, we may have to create a new category just for you. I'm trying to picture " small modern can-motor diesels, pulling colorful trains of tinplate cars." Can you share a photo of a consist?

"Small modern can motor diesel" is double-talk for a well running BEEP.  :-)

Finishing putting the last of my underlay down, so I will probably be able to post a picture in a week or so.
