Hello All,

First,  I don't have a way to scan a photo,  so this is the best I can do.   Thought everyone might enjoy seeing this photo that I took in 2002,  not long before the crane was sold and dismantled.   This was the Pittsburgh District Army Corps Of Engineers gantry crane at PEWARS(Pittsburgh Engineering Warehouse and Repair Station) that was basically in continuous operation from 1942-2003.   The entire facility was originally part of the WWll LST construction line and the Corps took it over after the war.   By the time I worked there,   the crane had see better days and we spent many hours resleeving/rebushing, and  making new axles for the 4 truck/motor assemblies.   The taller framework was needed for the crane operator to be able to see over the dock wall when loading/unloading the repair fleet on the river.   This crane and an older Manitowoc crawler crane were both replaced by a new Manitowoc 2250 crawler crane in 2005.

Nick
