I think mine is self explanatory. My name is Corey and I’m from Brooklyn.
I couldn't use any of the names my mother used to call me, not suitable for printing. So when I joined, the moniker was available and I took it.
Kinda obvious what trains I run.
My first job was working for Pepsi Cola. My favorite drink was and still is Mt. Dew and I was born in 1951 - So I choose Dewman51.
Passenger trains are my favorite kind of train, and my favorite passenger train is the Blue Comet headed by the Lionel 400E.
When this forum began, folks were selecting various engine related names. Since I'm primarily a C&O modeler, I chose the best they had plus anyone else's.

Greg,
The next best seat other than 1601's would be 765. Great shot of you in the engineer's seat of 1604.
There’s a video of my grandad on Pentrex films as he’s hitching a ride on the front of an 0-8-0 standing on the foot boards.....the narrator proclaimed “ a class U 0-8-0 moves through the Harmonyards with crews riding on the foot boards” .......so it stuck in my head all these years,...

I once had the experience of a changeover from a NYC Mohawk to an electric motor at Harmon for the run into GCT in Manhattan.
Simple, first initial and last name. No thought given to it when I selected it, but am glad that I did because it made things easy when OGR had its get togethers at York. The avatar (right now) is me and Irving at the NJHR.

It is a Scrambler, and it was made in 1981. I bought it the day I graduated from college, and 35 years later it is still here, though my oldest son seems to have seized control of it.
For the record, it doesn’t look nearly this good anymore.

I had forgotten about the Scrambler. It’s not supposed to look as good after so much time. 😄
Nice...I had a 1989 CJ-7. My favorite car, so far.

A tip-o-the hat to a great and my favorite actor............ yeah, I'm 70

Old Scramblers are a hot item now, folks are getting significant money for them. Before the rust got real aggressive, I had people following me into parking lots begging to buy it. My son is still getting offers for it.

Very good yes; but few would get it!
Anyone can guess where my name comes from. I was on the forum in the early days (21 years ago), and therefore most of the common railroad names were still available.
Not much drama here.
My username was assigned by the OGR forum.
aka, Thomas Thorpe
Mine came from a mining history forum I was involved in, being a mining engineer originally. Rocker shovels were often rail mounted and the name just followed me across to various rail-related forums
ferroequinologist (Noun)

Ferro - iron;
Equin(e) - horse;
ologist - One who studies a subject (suffix).

That’s not your “user name” it is your “display name.” There is a difference.
And it can be changed. Report the post and ask for a change. A moderator has to do it.
I enjoy the history up in Michigan's Copper Country, and I like to incorporate parts into my layout, and my name is Jake.
Copper Country + Jake = CopperCountryJake.
Chessie System is one of the railroads that I model. The colors are sharp and the logo is cleverly done. Plus, the first time I can recall seeing "B&O" was playing Monopoly as a kid.
I got mine from a friend when I was in the 7th grade. He was wanting me to create a Twitter account and thought of my username. It took me a couple years before I created those accounts as I was more focused on grades. So, I use it on my social media apps and here.
Even better/funny story is it also won "best Twitter username" for the senior yearbook when I graduated!
Back in the 50s, Monon made a cheesey promotional movie, and there's a jingle in it where they go "Up and down the Monon ..." and I just took it from that. Here it is right here, starting at the right spot to hear it.

It's corny, but I love it.
Self Explanatory.

I decided to use my real name before someone else grabbed it.
In the spirit of Cadillac Mike's post I'll give you a little hint on mine:
There's more than one Hudson in my life. While the rail version takes precedence, I also wanted to make sure that I didn't forget my automotive background. 'Mellow' comes out of family lore about a specific Hudson Hornet, light yellow in color, with an attitude -- similar to a famous Plymouth named Christine.

Bluelinec4
My son was a defenseman in hockey D is always noted with the blueline on the ice. I went in business with his hockey coach and named it blueline consulting There were 4 emails blueline bluelinec2 bluelinec3 and mine was bluelinec4
I wanted to use another handle, but decided since I'm primarily a Pre-War collector, I'd stick with that.
@Tinplate Art posted:I am very curious about the many interesting and unique forum user ID's and would like to ask our members to share the meaning of their forum names. Way back in 2001, I used the handle, Beowulf, as I studied Old English and Beowulf as a graduate student with a noted Beowulf scholar, who was also my mentor and friend. Later, I changed my forum name to Multi Gauge Art to reflect my then three gauge layout: O, standard and G (LGB). Several years later, my layouts in both homes had evolved into exclusive tinplate O and standard gauges, so I changed my name to Tinplate Art. Ironically, I have evolved back to multiple gauges, so I am once again, Multi Gauge Art! I actually own and operate more LGB than tinplate, but I will keep my present forum handle to avoid confusion! LOL!
Mine is an easy one. Guess which railroad I worked for in the 60's. When I first started using the email address (about 20 years ago), I soon got a message "is this the Mal Laughlin that I worked with at the NYC in 1967 ?"
My toy train interests go far beyond that, but coming back to the beginning, I'm planning a tinplate exhibit at the NYCSHS convention next year. It will be Lionel, AF and Marx NYC cars and locomotives from 80 to 105 years ago.
Anyone who may bein the Albany area May 20-21 next year is invited to participate - hoping we can find someone with a 700E.
Malcolm Laughlin
I live about a half mile from the CSX main line. I was surprised that some other moron did not come up with the pathetic portmanteau that I have as a user name
Mine is first initial, second initial, and nickname from high school, graduated in ‘77, Happy Days was on TV, yeah, I was The Fonz.
Joel David Fonder
well here’s mine, for 20 years I lived in PA in the Poconos and I started a small buy and sell train business to supplement the hobby. It was called Pocono Model Trains. When I got on the forum I just went with poconotrain.
My name is what I call my fellow model railroaders, my Trainfam.
Trainfam
"Das Boot" captures my vote for the best WWII cinema ever made, an easy choice for me in selecting my forum user name.
Guys...keep the discussion on track! Don't derail this topic with your other interests, musings, etc. Thanks!
My forum handle is pretty straight forward. I rode behind 4877 on the final run of the GG1 when I was 14 and closely followed it through photos when it was repainted into Tuscan Red in 1982. GG1s to this day remain my favorite locomotive even if I haven't added one to my collection in a while.
Well not totally true. I did track down a Weaver PC one this summer. Haven't added one for while prior to that!
