Osesik Circus Train to be run at Texas Western Train Show

Wish I were there to see it. Just for the record Bob, you have reversed the "e" and the "i" in the spelling of Osisek.

Oops!  Senior moment.

Based on the crowds reaction on Saturday, SGMA is a hit at the Texas Western Train Show.  Kids loved the "Osisek" Ives circus train, as did many of their parents.  They also loved the Christmas "putz" village, the vintage Lionel tinplate tunnels, the Pride Lines circus clowns, the classic Lionel tinplate train stations, and all the other SG accessories located on our table-top display.  Naturally, the tinplate Standard Gauge Ives, American Flyer and Lionel trains were the biggest crowd pleasers as they puffed and chugged over the three loops of SG track we had erected.  No doubt they will again thrill kids and their parents today!

Scott Schweyher, the Texas SGMA member who has been SGMA's "Modulator" (coordinator) for the Texas Western show, has already taken a bunch of photos and videos and will be posting them online.

Lesson Learned:  About a third of our table-top display has been covered by the sparkling white cloth used to simulate snow in Christmas putz villages.  The rest of the table tops are "bare".  Some sort of easily transportable covering is needed for SGMA table top displays, such as several large green cloths to cover and drape over the sides of the tables prior to laying down track.  Does anyone have any recommendations concerning what type of material we should use and the name of a good source for such material?

Sunday at the Texas Western Train Show was again fun for all SGMA members attending!  Like Saturday, SGMA's table-top layout was once again a hit with the kids.  No doubt this reaction has something to do with the sights, sounds and smells of Standard Gauge trains, which are simply not matched by those of any other gauge toy trains. 

Tiny tots were particularly thrilled by the loud whistle and bell sounds of the modern era contemporary SG engines.  And we members had fun sneaking those engines up on the kids along the edge of the layout, then pushing the transformer button to make the engine's whistle or bell sound, and then watching those kids react first by jumping away from the layout and then by laughing and/or shrieking with delight!  FUN!

It was nice to meet the SGMA members in Fort Worth.  I'm sorry I missed seeing the circus train, but I did have a nice chat with Navy Seal.  Here are some photographs I took yesterday.

Amazingly of all things, I scored a real NYO&W marker lantern (IN TEXAS!) and some details for my O scale NYO&W Munnsville railroad depot.

That's the best place to find stuff; in an area other than where it's the most popular...

Elvis was in the hall at the Texas Western Train Show.  His next appearance will be at Trainfest 2015 in Milwaukee.

 And so was Santa! 

And fun was had by all.
