Can I ask a stupid question?
I have conventional Lionel trains with some other brands thrown in for good measure. None of it was built for remote control operation but I have heard that there are computer programs that can run my trains if I block the tracks. Is that true? Where would I go to research this?

Reach out to Dave Hikel, you will see him here in the forum. He is running O scale 3 rail trains via a couple iPads. I believe he is using Railroad & Co's "Traincontroller" program, here is a link... http://www.freiwald.com/pages/index.html with DCS running the trains hooked up to the PC. I am almost positive that he has some Lionel engines running on that layout but, you'd have to ask him to be sure.

Back in the early days of DCS before the remote was produced we had a photo of the remote on a laptop to run the train. Pain you know where. Why not run your trains with the remote we now have that is designed to run your trains. Yes, today smaller devices exist than the laptop.
