I first thought this was an Elesco feedwater heater that shows up in photos of the Great Western's 1937 (last steamer they

bought) Alco 2-8-0 #60.  I had a brass casting for this, and then I flipped through both books and a pamphlet on the RR,

and think it looks more like one of those long tanks commonly suspended under running boards, toward the front on either

side of steamers, but this one sits sideways on the pilot plate under the overhanging smokebox.  Is that an air tank, or what? (I flipped through a Locomotive Cyclopedia, but while it covers a lot of steam loco components, and feed water heaters, I don't see anything like these tanks)

Another search turned up those dual, under running board, tanks as brake reservoirs, but that still doesn't help me identify a similar, third, tank under the smokebox that

looks close to an Elesco, but I don't think so. This engine was sold in 1963 to Fleminington, N.J., the Black River and Western tourist line, which I have heard of

previously, so somebody on here has probably seen it.  This engine was a house mate

to #90, now on the Strasburg.
