I just finished this pipe load for my Menards scale flat car. It hides the truck mounts very well.
The pipe is some scrap 1/2" alumnium tubing painted flat black. The stakes are 1/8" basswood. The straps are 24 gauge copper wire.
I also made some loads for a few of my gondolas. Should make a neat looking train when finished.

Great job Tom. Your load makes that flat car look like a million bucks. I'm sure a lot of people would love to have that car on their layout.

The black plastic coffee stirers, the ones that look like thin straws from Mc Donald"s), make good pipes too. You can heat them slightly, and flare one end to represent ductile iron water pipe.
