One of our members does have a custom-painted set of URR engines, but those ones are weathered.

MTH did both a powered unit (30-2646-1) and an unpowered dummy (30-2646-3).  They were uncataloged releases.

A couple of tech questions:

  • What size are your corner modules (curve diameters, overall size)?
  • Do you guys have construction drawings available?

Not 100% sure on the curves, but if my memory serves, they start at around O-104 on the outside track and then O-96, O-88 and O-80 roughly.

If there are drawings available, I have never see one.  We do however, have a list of specifications for the modules, and our "leader" (I use the quotes because we are really a loose-knit bunch ) has a track-spacing fixture to ensure track is going to match from module to module.

Well, we were rained out Friday night, but the rain quit just before opening last night.  This coupled with a bad-weather-discount on park admission lead to a pretty good crowd (bigger than we expected).

Didn't have a chance to take many pix last night, but I did get a little video, so here is the one picture I liked enough to post and a short video from last night:

Great pix and videos, Andy.  It's almost as good as being there.  Tell whoever owns the VRE passenger train with the Bombardier commuter cars that I love it.  Is it the K-Line set from before their demise?  I also liked the (Seattle?) Sounder set that they (K-Line) put out back then too.

Keep up the good work, man.

This is such a treat, Andy, seeing all of this. I place tremendpus value on my growing up (mid-40's - mid-60's) in Duquesne/Duquesne Place (Miller Avenue), so any time I get to see photos of my hometown I really enjoy it. I used to work in that very building as busboy (Employee Cafe. @$.65 per hr.); then, as "Salad Boy" in the main dining room where your trains are situated ($.85/hr.), helping earn my tuition for college. Loved it!

It's is nice to see, through your narrative, that an interest in model trains still exists in the Kennywood area.

Thanks again for the fun.

We all had a blast at this event and look forward to doing it again next year (which will be the 5th year of the event).

Merry Christmas Everyone!
