Be encouraged....this is a very common procedure nowadays.  You'll be fine, but you'll be in our prayers, too.

Now....for a bit of old related humor....

Years ago....I'd say 35-40, in fact...one of my higher-up bosses had a pacemaker installed.  He was a ripe old age of about 45 at the time!!!....and knew his lifestyle/diet was in need of change.  Anyway, his cardiologist said the pacemaker was needed.  As Dick (the 'patient') told the story, as he was coming to in recovery, his cardiologist said 'Everything's fine!  But, if I were you, I'd keep a pocket full of quarters on you at all times!...understand??'

'Why's that?'

'Well, just so you remember that you need to change your lifestyle and diet, I installed a coin-operated pacemaker.  It takes quarters...twice daily. When your pacemaker vibrates, put in another quarter!'  All this was told with a dead-pan straight, serious face.

The cardiologist was well-known to several of our company's managers.  He was, pardon the pun, a real 'card'.  Well, Dick didn't know this, though, and as he told us later, coming out of the anesthetics he bit on it...hook, line, sinker.  A few short moments later, however, as the attending nurses and his cardiologist broke into laughter, he realized the foil!

But the message took.  He did, indeed, change his lifestyle/diet.....for a while.

BTW, if you attend the York meets, take a pass on the scrapple and funnel cakes!

God bless,

KD

First prayers be with you at this scary time. I know I've been thru it twice now first time you think all is lost get it out of your mind I have a defibrillator/pacemaker I can get to the point my heart is beating so fast it can't pump blood so if that happens it will shock me and then the pacemaker will kick in and bring me back up to normal rithum .This first was done at age of 51 I'm now 60 and doing well in that sense anyway. Please calm down it will make things a lot better for you, your family, and your medical team trust me you will be fine this is a eveyday thing now days.

May the lord bless you and all around you and keep us in touch how things went

Had a pacer/defib put in last June, done early in the morning and by the afternoon all that visited were amazed at the difference it made.

Be sure and go thru the manufacturer's data sheet as well as talk to your cardiologist as to items that could cause interference. My wife and I did find one item that was not listed anywhere. Some but not all of the keyless entry/remote start systems on autos may require a minor modification to reduce the risk of interference.

Prayers that all goes well.
