Chessie, If I may make a suggestion, the pacer/defib they implanted in me is one of the largest they make so it looks kinda like I got a hockey puck under my skin. I was not allowed to drive for several weeks but when I could my best friend was a sheepskin seatbelt cover. Eliminates about 99% of the pressure to make for a comfortable drive.

Universal Matching Sheepskin Seat Belt Cover

Think this is the only time I would liked to have had a right hand drive car.

Thoughts & prayers continue.

Here is update from today 11/17/15.Update on me i seen doctor Schmidt today at WVU Heart Institute in Morgantown. He is going to put ICD in me its suppose to slow my heart down its similar to pacemaker but different. He also said if i don't get this done i only have 2% to 3% chance to recover from Heart Attack if i'm not shocked back into Rhythm within 5 mins. He said mine was really low. The nurse suppose to call me to set up date to have the IDC put in at later date.

I'm 51 years old and I'm on my second device and my second set of leads, both replaced this past summer because one lead wire broke in the heart and they wanted to install a device that can be MRI'd just in case I needed it in the future.  It might sound scary now but later on you'll look back and say it was not a big deal.  My only advise is find out if you can get a device that can be MRI'd and if your doctor gives you any physical limitations, LISTEN!  Good Luck!!

So instead of a pace maker you are having a defibulator installed due to possibility of rhythm issue. I have a combo defib/pacemaker. My heart rate gets to slow when I sleep and I have the same heart issue that athlete's drop dead from.

Let us know when your surgery is.

BTW, you won't be driving after your surgery.

Yes, The Lord is Working With You, Via, Your Team of Train Enthusiast....Prayer is the most  Powerful Tool in our Train Room. We can communicate with Our Lord Privately, One with One. This is an idea, What if We All pick a time, of Your Choosing, and We All Pray Together....Like Saturday Night at 9:00 PM, All over The World, Yes, All of us, On Our Knees, asking for GODS Grace to Bless You, All the Doctors, Nurses, Anestesialogist, AS This would be so Powerful....We are with You...Amen.

Congrats on making it through your surgery. I don't recall much pain but I tolerate better than the average person. I actually woke up during my procedure when they were tucking it under my skin. I find the feeling strange to this day of the defibulator under my skin. They actually had me shower the next day in the hospital. There was a clear plastic patch over the area that protected it from water. I'm a side sleeper. They didn't want me sleeping on my side. I found sticking a pillow under my back tilted me so I could sleep.

Let me know if you get the phantom shock.
