"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I recently purchased the Lionel G-Gauge Polar Express set for a Christmas train.  My regular Christmas set is in a storage unit a couple of thousand miles away. Upon receipt I unboxed it and was impressed with the detail. I set it up and the track snaps together nicely and the engine and tender has some nice weight to it. I ran it around the track for a while and was impressed with the sound set and operation. If you go from open throttle to 0 it slows down over 10 seconds and then stops, nice feature.
This is a great set and I am very pleased with it.

I had one when it first came out, and last year purchased the freight set so I would have the freight cars as well as the locomotive with the conductor voice (the first run of the set didn't have the voice).

I have to agree.  I actually like the Lionel G offerings, as they're fun sets and good to have out and running for a bit of fun operating!

My first experience with Lionel in G was when they did the Large Scale in the 1990's, which were nice but I preferred LGB and Bachmann at that point.

But after Lionel's first efforts back into G with the battery sets (which are still available under the Scientific Toys name, among others) left a little to be desired, I think this latest go for them is really a good one.  It can actually serve as a nice entry to LionChief territory for some as well.

I really do enjoy the current offerings in G from them.  They run well, they're durable and good to set up and pass the time when you just want something fun to run for a while.
