I no longer use windows, but before I was converted, I always ALWAYS experienced problems after an Explorer update.  Do you have a "go back" feature on the computer?  If you do, try it, and see if your problem has disappeared.  You can always reload the new Explorer at a later date, perhaps, when MS comes out with it's first "PATCH" for the new Explorer.

I'm also using IE 11 and Win 7/64 Home Prem. Been using it since they came out, not having any problems.  Only problems I ever had were sort of self inflicted. I installed something and it installed the Google toolbar while I wasn't paying attention. Had problems with youtube until I found the toolbar and uninstalled. All was well again. Not the same problem here, but might check for any unwanted toolbars?

Other than that I don't know? Maybe the Webmaster will have an idea?

I have to switch to Firefox when I wish to post a photo here.

This is based upon my personal EXPERIENCE. I use Firefox and have absolutely no problems with this forum or any other web site, for that matter.

The very fact that others may have to "patch" their software just so it will work with the latest version of Internet Exploder is completely and totally backwards. Microsoft does not "own" the internet. It should be Microsoft's responsibility to make sure that their browser works on every site on the internet, not the other way round.

I don't know if Hoopla has issues with IE 11, but I'm sure their developers are looking into it.

Couple things to try

1) Update Flash

2) Update JAVA

3) Look up how to use Compatibility mode on IE11 to simulate IE8 or 9

Trust me its not just Hoop.La and OGR that have issues with IE11, we several defense systems at the base I work at that are not compatible with any version on IE over 8. This includes off the shelf systems as well as government own. In fact my system sent a year to make a FireFox compatible system because we could never get any IE after 8 to work properly

A Sidebar Issue

Hi Larry

* A sidebar issue • Text Speaking

I like Google Chrome on a Mac, because of the feature called Text Speaking.

Text speaking does not always work with Firefox, only with Safari &  Google Chrome, both of these will post photos to the OGR Forum.

Text speaking is a proof read feature, that speaks back, what you have type into the post, after dragging over the copy.

When computer reads back the posting, it is a cool proof reading feature. I do not know if this can be done on a PC.

Text edit & speak back is standard on all Mac's.

Hearing a person read back my post is very helpful, for looking for errors.

Nothing is 100%....

Cheers from Michigan

I also have problems posting pics now. Not before. Don't know what happened or why it was done. I know and accept I'm just a guest here, and have to accept what happens and changes here. But I belong to probable no less then 15 other forums/sites. From Military to firearms, to horses and farming. This, and only this site do I have a problem with uploading pics into the post. I'm not going to keep adding more and more sites to be able to do this.

As to Firefox adding, sorry to say but 4 years ago, it was Firefox that allowed a virus to come through, and my desktop is still in storage at the office with the infected virus, after many hundres to remove it.

If feathers are hurt, sorry, but did want to chime in and why I don't add pics to my post on my layout, my friends layout, or our equipment and trains.

Nothing happened here! It was Microsoft that decided to put out yet ANOTHER incompatible and so-called "update" to Internet Exploder that has caused the problems. MANY sites are having problems with IE11, and that's ALWAYS the case when Microsoft spits out another "update." Go back to IE8 or 9 and stop doing "updates." You'll be much better off.

Firefox did not "allow" a virus to come through.  You clicked on something that gave the virus "permission" to come through. It could have happened with any browser and it happens every day. If your computer still has the virus after 4 years of failed attempts to remove it, you need a new computer tech. There is absolutely no reason for that. ANY virus can be removed and the computer put back into good operating condition in a matter of a few hours. Re-format the C-drive and reinstall the OS. Done.

Gary:  How do I access text and speak back on my Mac?  Do I need Pages, or is it available with Word?  I do have Word, but not Pages on my Macbook Pro.  Or, do I need to download Google Chrome?  I use Safari most of the time, but have not been able to find Text & Speak Back..

I see how helpful the folks at HoopLa are to their clients that have users with issues .... replicating the problem on different machines in their office using the suspect browser.

When you told Larry that his problem was with IE 11, I thought maybe you had some pertinent information from HoopLa on the matter. That's why I asked.

I'm fairly sure that they fixed an issue with IE 11 late last year. I was unaware of any other issues with IE 11/Hoop.La .... I thought maybe you knew better.

Happy Railroading.

Letting a "Virus in" had nothing to do with a web browser and everything to do with your virus software and add-ons like Flash. No web browser anywhere will block a virus, that is a separate application

As for removing it, why not just buy a new drive and reload the OS and be done with it

LOL, that's what the tech said. Cost, better to buy a new one for the business.

But again, I/we don't have any problems with any other site(s) in posting pics, rather then links to pics, except this one. Sorry, just stating from what I esperience from my end.

Again, I'm just a guest and just saying what I see here, and the other sites.

••• Hi Bob•••

!.  How do I access text and speak back on my Mac?

In the bottom menu bar is an Icon called "Text Edit", if it is not in this location. Go to the application folder and get the Icon for "Text Edit", & place this Icon in the bottom menu bar.

2. Do I need Pages, or is it available with Word?  I do have Word, but not Pages on my Macbook Pro.  Or, do I need to download Google Chrome?"

Text Edit" does not work directly with "Word". When I type copy in word for an OGR posting, I copy and paste the copy into "Text Edit" and now use the speak back feature. Go to the top pull down menu bar, "Edit" • "Speech" • "Start Speaking" I am typing this answer directly into Google Chrome, All I have to do now is drag over this answer • Go to pull down menu • "Edit" • "Speech" • Start Speaking • I will does this now and the computer will speak back to me directly from this post.

3. I use Safari most of the time, but have not been able to find Text & Speak Back..  The procedures above will work the same way for Safari or better yet down load Google Chrome.

4. If you live near an Apple Store, make an appointment to get help at the "Apple Genius Bar."

My e-mail is in my profile if you have any more questions or issues.

Hope this information helped. Good Luck

When it comes to computers, there can be "Chaos"

Well being a PC tech myself I am often amazed at the BS that comes from many of them. But when you can buy new PC's for 800 bucks, sometimes fixing old ones isn't worth it. Though a new 1 terabyte Hard drive is somewhere in the 60-80 dollar range these days so thats dirt cheap too

I am running IE9 and can no longer post pics on forumn, however I keep a shortcut to google Chrome on the desktop and it works fine for posting pics on this site. I work on PCs for my companys printers and I get along just fine with a 350.00 15" Acer laptop running Vista [Best Buy sale a few years ago] I also have a Dell 580 Tower I3 processor, Win 7 and Samsung 24" LED monitor[750.00 total a few years ago] which I hardly ever use.
