Potomac Eagle Operation in WV sold to steam expert

Exciting news, hopefully it leads to some steam along the banks of the Potomac.

I know Robert Franzen. He’s a good guy with a solid reputation in the industry.

When The Lovely and Gracious Linda and I begin our summer travels in the motor home, we’ll have to stop by and ride this railroad. 

I totally agree with ya J611...That would be a beautiful Valley to be riding a Steam Engine Pulled excursion train, and listening to the Song off the Steam Whistle...

Having ridden the Potomac Eagle twice, I can say it's a great ride.  Let's hope it gets better!

Remember, that would be along the banks of the South Branch of the Potomac River.

I have heard of, and then forgot about, this ride, if it is the one where wildlife is often seen from train. Please keep us posted.

I can confirm that this is indeed true! We trucked our own New Hope Valley No. 17  (0-4-0T Vulcan, class of 1941), to the Potomac Eagle back in 2010! This was the first time I fired solo. We had one of our engineers' N&W "Hooter" whistle installed, and that thing could be heard for MILES echoing through the canyon. Just a beautiful ride.
