According to TRAINS.com Newswire yesterday, the Eagle Canon Corp. sold the Potomac Eagle passenger operation to a company headed by Robert Franzen.

Franzen has a long resume of freelance steam locomotive restoration, and also managing maintenance and shop activities on several tourist railroads.

Franzen's wife, who has a background in marketing, is also involved.

All the usual suspects on here can debate future motive power changes and where Romney WV is.

That would be a beautiful Valley to be riding a Steam Engine Pulled excursion train, and listening to the Song off the Steam Whistle...

I can confirm that this is indeed true! We trucked our own New Hope Valley No. 17  (0-4-0T Vulcan, class of 1941), to the Potomac Eagle back in 2010! This was the first time I fired solo. We had one of our engineers' N&W "Hooter" whistle installed, and that thing could be heard for MILES echoing through the canyon. Just a beautiful ride.
