There is one on ebay. Listed as #406 lumber car.
You have 3216 Log car. It is from 1938. It has what are known as Type XII trucks and the Type X coupler. The type X coupler was used on 9 1/2 cars in 1938 and primarily on 6 1/2 cars in 1939. The coupler is know as sheet metal knuckle coupler or a "curley que" coupler. The type X Flyer coupler will couple with a Lionel knuckle coupler
The wood load was usually a scribed block of solid wood. Your wood tie downs are home made, but there are reproductions of the original tie downs available. You are also missing a brake wheel.
Nice find. Are you a pre war Flyer collector?
Don,
a 406 is Gilbert production and has a link and pin type coupler. It is from 1939.
Thanks both for the info. I do collect some Flyer but this is my only O-Gauge piece.
You may find that its easy to collect and hard to resist.

Ok. Thanks. I see the coupler difference now.
AF Pre-war is interesting as there is both regular size O scale offerings and 3/16" O scale (comparable in size to S scale).
The 3/16" scale offerings are among my favorite pre-war offerings. For example, this Pennsy K-5 is pretty accurately done:
IF your interested, I have a few AF pre-war items posted on the OGR for sale board from a couple of weeks ago.

The tie downs look original.
You might be right Chuck. In the photo they look as if the wire is a smaller gauge than that used for originals.
Without seeing them in person its difficult to say for sure. If they aren't original the person who made them did a nice job.
Or after a second look at your original car, maybe they are the tie downs from the S gauge C&O flatcar with pipes.
I just went and looked at some photos of the S gauge C&O pipecar, and I think you are right.
