This looks like this is something in your printer setup dialog. This is part of the print dialog on your local machine, not something from the digital publication itself.

I just tried to do the same thing you are having trouble with...print pages 60-64 of this issue. I successfully printed those pages via Firefox and Internet Exploder on a Windows 7 Pro machine.

A few questions...

  1. Do you have multiple printers on this computer?
  2. If so, have you chosen the correct printer?
  3. Why is the image you posted black & white? It should be color.

I'm following this thread, so I'll know when you post something additional here.

Rich,
From logging into the digital library and choosing an issue, then trying to print, is when I have the problem.

1.) No other printer.
2.) Correct printer chosen.
3.) It shows B+W because the previous thing that I printed was set to B&W. I had forgot to change it back to color.

If I download the issue, printing will work. This is all Windows 10.
At this time, I have yet to be able to talk to anyone at Brother printers.

Jim, I'm not sure this is a Brother printer issue. If the PDF file prints OK from Adobe Acrobat (or the Adobe Reader) that would seem to indicate that the printer interface is OK and the printer is doing what it's supposed to.

I think this may be a web browser issue. Do you have another web browser that you can use to log into the Digital Library and try to print something? I think this is part of the print dialog within the web browser doing this.

I posted this earlier, but for some reason the post didn't take. There was a database error, but then when I tried to post it again, it said it was a duplicate. Oh well.....

I get the same thing with Windows 10 using both Chrome/Edge and an HP printer. It prints fine using IE though, so it doesn't seem like it would be a printer or a Windows problem. Using Chrome, I'm able to print the 2nd and subsequent pages, so there's something about the image being the cover page with a blank image on the left of the display. The fact that it prints fine using IE and Firefox doesn't necessarily rule out a website issue. It simply means that if the website isn't following some software design "guideline", IE and FF compensate for it. How many times have you seen websites that say "Optimized for Firefox", etc.? If all websites and browsers were created equal, that wouldn't be necessary. Obviously, the solution is to use IE/Firefox or print from the PDF.

Rich, try using Chrome or Edge and you'll see the problem. Unfortunately, since you're using Windows 7, I don't think you have Edge and I'm not sure about Chrome. For whatever reason, this part of the website is not compatible with either browser, at least not with Windows 10. As I said, IE works fine and I assume Firefox does too, though I'm not going to install it to find out.

I use Firefox as my primary browser on all my machines and have no issues with this at all. I just installed Chrome and tried it with that browser. No problem.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I can't duplicate it.
