I have a powered R17 subway engine with a 5V board that is having issues.

What it will do..It will run fine in forward and reverse and all the sounds work fine.

Problems..1. When I have it making stops in "loop mode" or "out and back" it will make the announcement and only move a couple of inches.

          2. After the first stop it will continue making all the announcements but will not move.

          3.  While it is running normally "No stops" sometimes it will stop on it's own but the sound keeps working. I have to shut it down and start up to get it to move again.

          4.  While on a powered track the sounds will start on their own? with no command from me!

What I have done..  I put a MTH green batteries fully charged in it, Cleaned the track and wheels of the powered car.

Any idea's?    Thanks guy's.

Chris,

STOP!!

Before you attempt to reprogram it, only do a Factory Reset and re-add the engine.

Then, run Auto Mode using the factory default program that does all the stops. If that works, there's a good chance that your problem is operator error. If it fails, it's much more likely that it's a sound file problem.

I updated a 5V PS/2 trolley with a 3V board and then tried to program stops.  Feature or factory resets didn't get it working properly.  I had to fire it up in conventional mode and do a conventional reset, then it all started working properly.

If all else fails, try a conventional reset.

That is exactly what I did tonight and it seems to be working just fine!  The conventional reset did the trick!    Thanks for all the help guy's.

When I said factory reset and feature reset I should have been clearer and said Conventional Feature reset.  Though the DCS feature reset would not hurt either.

Apparently the station stop program needs both done to clear any issues.

Glad it was simple.

Chris the manual gives you instructions on a few Horn and bell combos that allow features to be accessed via conventional.

The conventional reset is a good tool to check and engine and clear any faults when your having a problem, especially with DCS.   G
