Problem with SP Legacy Berkshire

All,

I have a problem with my, Santa delivered for Christmas, SP Legacy Berkshire that someone can suggest a solution. For some reason the smoke unit is making a whining noise even when I have the smoke unit off. I have reset the engine thinking that might help and even powered down the track and re-powered it up, and that doesn't work.

I am really not fond of the idea of sending the engine back to Lionel after having it a whopping 2 weeks.

Also I thought i saw a thread talking about rust on wheels, this engine seems to have that issue as well.

i don't believe the fan unit should run if the smoke is off w/ the legacy remote... did ya try shutting off the smoke on/off switch?

i know it's disturbing w/ surface rust on the wheels... have you tried light oil on a cloth and rubbed it on those area's... PB blaster is good but it does smell.

if you end up sending it in you may want to wait 3-4 weeks as there pretty busy after the holidays in canfield.
