What is a Lionel PS-4 piece of rolling stock? Nick

PS refers to Pullman-Standard, I believe. PS-4 was the model of the prototype freight car.

Right, and to be more specific, the Lionel model is of the 50 foot, wood deck flatcar.

One of Lionels better efforts.
The PS-1 was a line of Pullman Standard boxcars both 40 & 50 ft and all welded bodies.
The PS2 was a line of Pullman Standard covered hoppers starting with a 2 bay as modeled by Weaver and others and also a 3 bay. Probably others.
The PS3 was a coal hopper
The PS4 as mentioned was the flatcar.
And the only other I know is the PS-5 which is a gondola that Lionel did a nice a model
There may be others built by Pullman Standard.
All the correct answers here.

Thank you for the breakdown on this. Nick
The Weaver Models first ribbed-side, Three-bay, open-top hopper is a model of the first PS-3 open-top hopper.
Now Lionel can produce them in the LionScale Line.
