Had the #80 Coal Turbine upgraded by an MTH tech (380 mile round trip!).

He put a steam locomotive master kit in the B unit instead of using the slave, to avoid the teather problem I guess.

So it operates as a lashup.

The drawbar is between the B unit and the tender.  And it won't go all the way in to the socket.  I have been able to get it in far enough to operate the backup light and the rear coupler.

The problem is when the lashup is in reverse and the rear coupler opens, it won't latch closed.  If I put the lashup in forward, the rear couple will latch shut.

Any idea what the problem may be, and how to get the drawbar to seat in the socket, would be greatly appreciated.

It will save me two 380 mile round trips if I can get it to work.

Otherwise I guess it has to go back to the MTH Tech under the 90-day warranty.

Thanks!

When opened with the remote; it doesn't open on its own when switched into reverse.

I can push the knuckle closed but it won't latch closed; just opens up again.  Shift the locomotive to forward, the backup light goes out, and I can push the couple knuckle closed and it latches.  Shift the locomotive into reverse and the coupler stays closed until I open it with the remote.  Repeats above sequence.  Yes gunrunnerjohn, it's the fiber teather.  The units do have a seperate drawbar.
