Few things to consider is the Great Trains F40 was made up in Crystal Lake, IL. back in the late 80's early 90's. That model was made in 1:32 scale but isn't totally accurate. The owner Ralph Brown compressed the length of the locomotive by eliminating one section. If you look one fan is missing on the roof. Only one was made to the "scale" length.

The body isn't an injection mold..it was formed out of styrene pieces.

The NWSL trucks used were terrible as most all had aluminum wheels.

No interior and the lighting used was very crude. 

 

The USA Trains recently announced F40PH will be an exquisite model made to 1:29 scale 

 

There is a outfit that makes 1:32 bi-level commuter car kits out of styrene.
