Does setting the main stack smoke output ie: low med hi on the remote affect the whistle smoke output? for example if main smoke is set to medium will the whistle smoke operate at medium. I am referring to lionels smoke units with two fan motors and 8 ohm elements btw.

This is my first engine with this feature and I dont want the element on the main side up on high all the time. the whistle steam element is only on for brief periods when quilling so it will not char the wicking as bad as the  main smoke element will if run on high.  thanks.

Hopefully this makes since. When you set smoke level intensity IE “Low,MED,HIGH” that will be set for ALL smoke units on the engine.

In the case of whistle Steam if it is inactive for 30-60 seconds the heat is lowered just enough to keep it warm but not burning hot. As soon as it’s activated the unit will ramp up and heat up the element quick then drop down to the set intensity level. depending on the era of Legacy electronics all newer Legacy engines since about 2014 have thermistors in the unit to monitor the amount of heat in the unit.

Recently have had a lot of luck running the units on MED. good amount of smoke and easier on the wick
