I know that this forum has all types of fans, including mileage collectors, and those with a fondness for vintage diesels. On May 5, 2012, the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley chapter of the NRHS, in cooperation with the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern RR will be running a day long "hopper jet" excursion beginning in Port Clinton, PA. This will be a mixed freight with hopper cars, caboose and passenger coaches. The coaches will be left off the train for the photo runbys. Departure is 11 AM and return is expected by 7PM. Power will be three former Lehigh Valley SW8s running from Port Clinton south to the North Reading yard, a photo stop, then back on the same line north to Tamaqua where the train will head to Mahanoy City via the Mahanoy tunnel.
The chapter is arranging for a bus to take people who are in Northeast PA to the Port Clinton boarding area. Box lunches are available for sale, too. Check out www.laurellines.org for more details. I would like to see some of the OGR family there.
