Hi Folks,
The 2012 edition of Relay For Life Relay For Life is coming. Where I live not too far from West Palm Beach, the local event will be held in Community Park, The Acreage on March 30 and 31, 2012. My grandson is in the Army JROTC at the local High School (Seminole Ridge) and they have a team. I will be there with a very small portable O-Gauge layout.
The sub-event will be a 1000 mile Train Run For Cancer Research. There will be a couple of rescue locos hauling a short train of rescued and redecorated cars. There is provision for some token riders - little wood and cardboard people representing donations. You can visit my personal page at:

to learn more. That page has a link to the JROTC Team page. I am hoping for a few folks to donate a penny a mile (that comes to $10) to have their token take the ride. Donations can go direct following those links. When you donate, be sure to let me know the name you would like on the token. Respond soon and I will be able to include a photo of whomever you would like to take the ride.

If you prefer to be really anonymous, contact me (wpporter@duckburg.us) to arrange something. That will put the donation in the hands of the ACS and keep privacy intact - no lists.
If this event is successful, I will be happy to share a complete set of plans and ideas with anyone who wishes to do something similar local to where they live. I would also hope to have a more elaborate setup next year if there is interest. Right now, I plan to be there for the 18 hours from 6:00 PM Friday through Noon on Saturday.
