Anybody got a method of removal of this retaining ring, and keeping it intact to be reused? See left side of photo. Thanks.

Mark...VERY CAREFULLY pry it with a thin blade screw driver...if the shaft is plastic be VERY CAREFUL..good luck...joe
Not familiar with the piece. Not sure what’s on the other side or how tight it’s on there. You might just be able to tap the shaft with a block of wood. You will be tapping against plastic though. Or you could try a mini pic with a hook on the end. Probably try putting the hook in what looks like a triangle on the tab. Put the hook in there and pry on the shaft. You may have to alternate from one side to the other.
The tabs can probably be straightened back a bit for reassembly. A 12 point socket can be used to pop it back on.
I normally use a new one, but if you must save it, use a thin pick or awl and alternatively pry up a bit on each side of the gripping fingers and work it off.
This is a self-locking push-on retaining ring designed for single use factory production work. It should be removed with a rotary cutting tool and replaced with new to avoid damage to adjacent parts.
Like the man said, if it were designed to be removed, you'd have it removed by now.
