As a veteran of many such incidents, oak blocks and wedges are always the first option.  Once had to rerail a RSD5 near the Missouri river in Pierre SD. Going into the derailment site, saw what appeared to be a strip of banding crossing the one lane trail.  Only problem it was moving and had rattles. Carmen arrived, threw out some oak wedges & blocks, (had to use one set of rerailers we were quite a way from the rail.) in less than 30 minutes we were on the rail and leaving the snake pit.

 

First job back at Huron, load some more wedges & blocks in the car & truck
