I made a mistake and connected several lighted accessories to one AIU Accessory port.   When I connected the very last one (got greedy)  it apparently exceeded the 4-5amp limit in the AIU port.   Even after disconnecting that accessory and deleting it,  none of the switches or accessories on that AIU  function.  When I use the use the handheld to change a switch control or turn on an accessory,  I hear the AIU click but the switch does not work nor does the accessory get power.  So my two questions are:

1) Is there a fuse, a reset button,  or any other way to repair it?

2) Or if I do have to replace the AIU,  since its the first one on the string (I have two),  is there any way to save the switch & accessory names on AIU2 or do I have just have to re-add them all over?

Thanks for any help.  My 6 year old grandson is coming for "Grandpa Camp"  in a few weeks to help me work on the layout and I promised him all the buildings would be lighted!   I have the initial version of the DCS Companion but couldn't find anything that addressed this.

That the AIU still clicks and that the 2nd AIU (further downstream from the TIU) work are good things.  A large portion of the control circuitry inside the AIU needs to be working for these things to happen.

Did you see smoke or can you smell anything untoward (compared to the 2nd AIU)?  As GRJ suggests, if you can open it up if there was an overload it ought to be obvious.  There are no user-replaceable fuses or reset button in the AIU though.  It's very odd that ALL your functions aren't working.  If ONE relay (output) was overloaded and failed, it should not affect the other relays as they are separate circuits which are electrically isolated.  If it turns out that just a single relay failed, it is repairable though it requires soldering re-work; the relay component itself is just a couple dollars.

Actually, my first thought was to double-check the wiring external to the AIU.  Perhaps when wiring up that last accessory a power bus wire that feeds the "IN" terminals on all the AIU ports came loose such that there's no power to switch.

Thanks so much to all who replied.   Really appreciate the help.   I did finally call MTH Tech Support and the technician said that I probably blew one of the circuit boards since none of the ports are functioning.   He said the part is $8-10 and it would be $45. labor.   So I plan to buy a new AIU and replace the bad one today and just send the other in for repair (I will need a 3rd one anyway and its about 1/2 the cost of a new one).   As Barry suggested,  he confirmed that I should be able to just swap the AIU's without without have to re-input the switch or accessory names.   So hopefully back in business tomorrow!
