"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Three years ago I tore down my O gauge railroad and packed it away. I moved ,sold my house and moved in with the significant other. Well the bug done bit me again. But this time I had the itch for HO. Now what I am finding out is DCS with AC is a piece of cake. DCS with DC is driving me nutzzzzzz.

#1. I can not get the hand held to recognize the engine on the track. I am using a MRC TECH 7  ampacv760  23vdc, 18.5vac. Now nowhere does it say or indicate which terminal is pos. and which is neg. We did not have a meter so we guessed by arcing that the biggest arc was the pos. I have matched all wires through the TIU out to the track. I have turned the engine back wards front wards but not sideways Yet!! This transformer is a variable control but I have it turned it to max and keep it there. The wiring is running through the TIU on fixed voltage 2 and out on fixed voltage 2. The AiU is also attached but nothing on it. Turning the power on, the engine will start and idle. But will not show up on hand held.????? Also tried a new ALCO on the track with the same response. NOTA. Can you help a brother out??      Thanks.

NOTE: Hit the wrong key and it all got darker and I'm not typing it over. SORRY

Some good questions..i am staying tuned to this post but just to clarifyand get the ball rolling..you are running DCS with a TIU and have tried both the AC and DC into fixed 2?

Keep in mind fixed 1 or aux power supples power for TIU operation.

I use dcs to run my Ho MTH locomotives and have no problems. My TIU is wired thru he fixed and out the fix on the other side. I also use the old bulb trick connected to my power panel where the TIU is connected to. It improves the dcs signal.

Check your power pack to make sure it is working and you have the wires conected properly. If nothing is adding to your remote switch the wires on the TIU ( both sides) and give it another try.

If the the engine is starting up when you apply power just means the engine does not see the dcs signal.

Thank you david1  Going to give it a try now. Going to say now that it is nice to have a place to go when you have a problem and good people respond with helpful information and not smart *** remarks. It's not the site, it's people like we say in the Wyoming Valley " YOUZ GUYS" LOL  that make it so.
Thanks again.

Where ever you have the wires from the fixed out from the TIU connected to, attach a socket with a bulb. It only helps to increase the signal For better running. When I checked the track signal on my layout it increased from 5 and 6 to a solid 10 everywhere.
