I purchased in 2013 a Lionel Santa Fe Diesel #162 (6-38231) with Railsounds. The diesel started to smoke while I was pulling 10 cars. Based off of the wring diagram the blue wire that connects both motors to J3 has been destroyed. Does anyone know what might have caused the wire to do that? Also, does anyone know where I can purchase this wire?

I would contact the manufacturer and relay this occurrence. Speak to a tech rep. Chances are a mistake was made which caused this wire to do what it did. When ever I encounter an issue with any locomotive especially, regardless of age or when it was purchased or even if it is out of warranty, I still start with the people that made it for their advice. Best wishes with getting her right.
