Due to health issues and associated expenses, I need to move. Any tips on selling all my train stuff. I need to downsize and need to sell everything. My layout is 16' x 35', but other than the track and some ballast most of it is yet to be permanently affixed to the layout. I live in Mokena, Illinois. For someone building their own layout, I have a lot of scenery materials, ballast from Dennis Brennan, locos, rolling stock, artistta figures, and a sizeable collection of die cast vehicles. I checked ebay, but selling items peace meal will take way too long.

If you want to sell off particular aspects of the layout, I would be interested in scenery, figures and vehicles. As far as the trains go, maybe a Auction house like Stout to unload all at once.
Thanks,
Greg

Sorry to hear you have to throw in the towel so to speak. I would think the rolling stock/engines would attract a package bid from some of the collection liquidators that advertise in OGR. The scenery materials , again bundled together might be best advertised locally for clubs, etc. The layout is the tough sell, again probably a local sale. Wish you were closer than 600 miles, my layout build is this winter. I am sure some other folks here will have some sage advice to add. Good luck. Rich
CHECK WITH SOMMMERFELDS TRAINS IN BUTLER WI , HE BUYS ESTATES !
Sorry to hear this, and we wish you good health and success with your sale. What brand of track did you use, and what diameter? (You might consider moving this post to the buy and sell forums.)
Call Mike Singleton who is a dealer in new and used trains who comes to our monthly show at the Dupage County Fair Grounds. His phone number is 1-248-705-6618. He will come to your house , make you an offer and take the trains away in one of his trailers. His email is Msinglet@mi.rr.com. You will never meet a more honest and fair individual. I have dealt with him at Dupage for decades. He is a former engineer at Ford Motor in Detroit.
Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions both here and via email. I will be making an inventory list and will be reposting with the list and will do something with pictures. I will put it in the sales forum. Thanks again to all.
I saw whole layouts go on E-Bay. Take it down, place everything in different sections and Photograph them. I sold things like large assortment of track on e-bay.
Sometimes if the price is right the resellers will buy it. Or someone who is just starting a layout will jump, at it.
Greg above is just the type I am talking about.
Good Luck and I hope everything works out for you.
Again Boo Man, Good Luck.
Any pictures of your layout before you tear it down? We'd love to see them and I'm sure you'll appreciate them some time in the future.
Sorry to hear of your situation. You are a few minutes from the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club in New Lenox.
Send me a list; perhaps we could help you with some items. raymondm630@gmail.com

Folks,
Just a word of thanks for the all the above posts with potential local solutions for Bob. Great to see fellow members reaching out during a time of obvious need. Hope this all works out for you, B-Man!

Thanks again guys. It takes time to do an inventory list; longer than I thought. I am working on it though.
If you could provide a list of the train items, I might be interested in the whole lot, except for any non rolling items. I don’t live to far away and could even come take a look see.
Sorry to hear of your health issues, we hope you get better, good luck selling your layout...
Sorry to hear about your health issues. Depending on the color of the Brennans Ballast. I would be interested. Email in my file.
Best,
Joe Gozzo
Geo Jr. There is no email for you. Please update and I will email you something. Joe, I sent you an email. I have a ton of stuff. I have vinylbed, a lot of built kits (Korber, Berkshire Valley, and others), Woodland Scenic built ups, several of the Menard's buildings. I am finding getting an inventory list daunting. I am working on it.
