Quite a collection of track types you have there Marty, are the sensor tracks the only Fastrack you use?
Well before my divorce I was getting ready to go to Atlas O. Hence the outside loop. When I moved out and set this temporary layout up, I saw no reason to buy more Atlas until I get my own place with a permanent layout. Yep the sensor track is it for FT.
Makes sense, I was wondering if you were just changing track brands.
Thank you for sharing.
I just had mine program some Baldwin Sharks as they rolled through. Set the ID number and the sensor track loaded all the orange module info. I also set mine to blow the whistle. Very nice.
Nice work Dave. I guess I'll give that a try on one I buy.
Hmmn, sensor in the tender or a delay in processing time? What do you think? Both examples do it.
It seems to blink for a command being generated when the tender is over the track.
Have to allow for that in track spacing for other actions.
On steam the sensor is in the tender. On diesels it's under the fuel tank.
That's good to know. The programmed command is generated very quickly.
Dave I like your solution, simple and direct, I think I will use it.
I also like your solution Dave. Looks like it will work on atlas as well.

Interesting approach Dave, I would have never thought of ripping the ties off!

Dave,
Did you remove the RAIL from the Sensor Track?? It's hard to tell!

Yes, the rails were removed from the sensor track, see the pictures. It looks like you just remove the rails from the sensor track, hack off the ties from the Atlas/Gargraves/Ross track and set the sensor track under them. Pretty slick.

Dave told me he had to Dremmel a little to get it to fit under the track. He said there were a few plastic tabs that need to be taken away for the track to sit flat. Nothing big.

I'm guessing he's taking the nubs off the sensor track top. If you're worried, remove the boards from the sensor track so you just have the plastic and attack with the Dremel tool.
Sensor Track.

Excellent solution!

Here are a few of the earlier pics enlarged to help show what was done. Next time I will take a few more pics of the entire process of altering the Sensor Track.
Take your time and have a buddy or clamp down the Sensor Track when cutting off the plastic nubs that go into the FasTrack rails. The whole process took less than 30 mins. I plan on doing another on Saturday and will document the process from start to finish.
Hi Dave,
Just recieved my Sensor track and would like to use your approach with my Atlas Track. Please post your process when you get a chance. Thanks!
