Where is a good source for inexpensive o scale slate roof shingles, or how do you experts make them in the wood shop? Hope this isn't too simple of a question- I searched it with very limited results- Thanks in advance
This is my thought- Home depot sells edge veneer 3/4" x 25' in different woods. I think I am going to buy a roll for $6, weather the wood & cut them into .25" x .75" pieces. That should give me pretty close slate. The structure I am modeling is 8" wide & 36" long. I think if I clamp a guide on the roof as a straight edge, I can lay them row by row pretty easy. I think I will even put a couple sections into the roof using a different wood veneer to make it "stand out" like a roof patch...
