Well, I have been seriously looking into and comparing Lionel Vintage Post War, Lionel PWC, Williams Conventional Post War Remakes, and Lionel Neil Young Sig Series Legacy.

I already own a Williams Scale PRR GG-1 with the Williams PRR Congressional passenger cars, but thought it would be nice to own a Lionel PWC set of this same train.

Based on this video i found on uTube, I am no longer interested.

Something is not right either with this particular set, or the design...listen to the horn (Sick Godzilla or Sick Cow)and also look at how there is no slow controlled movement.

The stations announcements seems good and the train sounds when you can hear it.

Is this video accurate? if so I cannot believe the prices people are asking for this set.

I agree---I know it mimics a real GG-1 but---It does sound pretty bad

In my opinion the PWC 2360 solid stripe GG-1 sounds much better---it came out a few years after the PWC 2340---maybe a later version sound board ???

I know 2360 was usually pulling frt. sets

However the 2360 was cataloged with the gold stripe presidetial cars in the early 60's

Good Luck

Chipset, MTH also made this set in the DAP series plus a 2 car add-on set. I have the set and I absolutely love it! I remember that OGR covered this set and the Lionel reissue in the Collectors Gallery. The MTH not only beat the Lionel operationally but the writer also found it to be more true and "closer to the original" then Lionels own reissue.

I need to find that issue, I love those OGR reviews!

I think  it was OGR Dec 2012.

I'll have to try to find it. All my back issues are packed away right now. It was actually a Collectors Gallery article that had a mini review for lack of a better way of putting it of the 2 sets. If you find what issue it is please let us know. I forgot to post this earlier but with the green paint, gold striping, and red keystone GG-1's look so good on a Christmas layout. Especially with Christmas cars. The tuscan ones look very good to.

Early RR air horns had a rather MOO-ing sound, so that's not wrong, though that first

one did seem a little more bovine than most. But not "wrong" - I have, however, never

heard a GG1 in person.

====

Dome passenger cars in the US were almost entirely a Western RR phenomenon - which

is kind of silly, as there are multitudes of scenic vistas in the East/South. Clearances

in some of the older urban areas could be an issue, however.

The Williams Congressional cars are too short. The Lionel scale cars would be a better fit for your Scale GG1. There were a couple of issues with the Lionel cars, incorrect windows, distance between cars and the height of the car body in relationship to the trucks.

The golden gate Congressional cars might be a better fit overall but they are 20 inches long and rather expensive.

PRR never had either a vista dome car or a baggage car for the Congressional since it was basically a day tripper. The did have a diner/club car.
