The Norfolk Southern's 21st Century Steam excursion train ride we took yesterday (about 130 miles) was very enjoyable and I wanted to share it with members that might be interested in it. It was the 2-8-0 # 630 (Tennessee Valley) that was refurbished and originally built in 1904. We started in Bristol Va. and went to Bulls Gap Tennessee for a halfway stop and then returned to Bristol. It had two Norfolk diesels helping it ( 3224 & 3521). I don't really care for black and white trains but, these freshly painted diesels were just beautiful looking engines. I may have to reconsider.
At the 2 1/2 hour stop we were entertained with good blue grass music, wagon rides and several vendors doing their thing. I'm including pictures to give you the idea of the fun that was enjoyed by about 600 individuals. I only included a few of the cars. I think a total of 14 were involved in the trip.
