Standard Gauge Pendulum reverse unit bypass

I have a 384 E. Steve Walker motive that has an ear in it that will not engage at all, and I am looking for a forum post or a video online that showcases the steps needed to take so I could bypass the unit altogether and get the locomotive running in the forward direction Thanks and I look forward to your responses.
