When will the next batch of zwl controllers be available? They are still being made and offered by lionel right?

They're in the new catalog.

Still being offered. When the next batch comes in, only Lionel sort of knows.

The best transformer money can buy, bought one a few years ago best investment ever. Runs anything I throw at it.
thanks guys. with all the uncertainty surrounding the suppy chain these days. I just had to ask.
I had this same question / concern so when I saw one at a local hobby shop I bought it. Wasn't budgeting to buy one until the base3 came out but I when I looked around no one had it in stock or even offering a pre order.
Charle Ro has them on back order for about $840.00.
I've been tempted to get one, but question whether it has a $800 advantage over the Cab 1L and 180 bricks I have (together with two ZWs to run accessories), maybe combined with a Base 3 when they come out. It's a neat transformer, but I think redundant.

Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure there is much value for you to upgrade there, maybe just pick up a Base3 and use it with your current set up. I had a special use case since I'm moving from Conventional control into Legacy. For me the cost / space savings over picking up 180 Bricks and Power Masters for each of my loops vs the ZW-L made purchasing the ZW-L worth it.

I think if you are command only, it's probably not the most cost effective solution, but it's a terrific piece of expensive toy train eye candy nonetheless. . Hard to overstate it's aesthetic appeal to my way of thinking. The Z-4000 was an impressive transformer visually, but the ZW-L takes this to the next level, in my view.
A GREAT transformer!
I've had mine for seven or so years. I sold two Z-4000s and replaced them with the ZW-L. It handles the load.
I agree with performance but I can not compare it with anything else it's the only one I have ever had. one thing the price has really increased.
Yeah, I debated buying it, Marios had a sale last year (I think it was labor day), was like 630....not long after that, *boom*. Decided to wait until I had my layout closer to being ready to wire, well, there went that idea.
Yes I hear you. Wait for a better time or price and you might get that sticker shock 😲

Yes, I agree entirely. That aesthetic appeal is certainly a major draw. Hard to resist its siren call.
