Photos I took along the Norfolk Southern Youngstown Line Railroad Tracks near Williamsfield Ohio at a side road railroad crossing on the morning of Monday April 29th, 2019.

This line sees about 2 to 3 trains daily only. Sometimes a few more. But it is a needle in a haystack to get one. But there is a FB group named NS Youngstown Line Group that have people updating with trains along this line.

Beautiful countryside scenery out in the part of Ashtabula County.

Ok, I know you guys are refering to that line, but being honest, I didn't want to start a discussion about a railroad line over in Australia. I just was reffering to that this line has a lot of straight track but some curves along the way. I wasn't comparing other lines, I was just saying in general.

As to Curt's question, yes it was, but also NYC as well. This line back in the day was very busy, but today is very limited. Now if the Ashtabula Harbor is open, traffic will pick up.     Only advantage there is, the main block signals are lit so if it turns yellow or green, you know something is coming. The intermediate signals stay off till a train is in that block.

The line connects Port Augusta in South Australia with Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, across a barren landscape known as the Nullarbor Plain. It includes a 297 mile section of dead straight track, the longest such stretch in the world. Nullarbor literally means "no trees". Not only are there no trees but there is very little of anything across that barren wasteland.
