Sort of got me stumped! I have a 1946 Lionel engine runs great but when its running the 2426W whistle will not work... at any speed slow or fast.. BUT if I put it in neutral it works fine... any where and everywhere on the layout .. any ideas why or what to do .. Both units are clean and no dirty wheels . and have new flex wire in the whistle pickups and was lubed.. thanks ...daniel

After some attempts to see if I could get this to work I raised the speed up and hit the cab-1 whistle and it works just have to really run it fast ..? Did the old 2426W first ones have a different mechanical whistle relay that used more voltage to activate them or maybe mine might need adjusted?
The older transformers would bump-up the voltage when you hit the whistle button to make up for the increased load. Not sure if there's any fix with new transformers - they're made for electronic sounds.
what transformer do you use does make a difference!
ZW on my layout,,,as mentioned .. it will sound with out the 726 on the track at any voltage but will only work with the 726 running higher speeds and voltage... daniel
