Under 2 weeks until the next Strasburg show!

Started packing up 5+ tubs of stuff to sell and will have as much as always, if not more.  Spent the weekend adding to the inventory all the cars, etc. that I've built or rebuilt over the past 18 months.  Yikes!  Another 10-12 cars from my personal inventory going for the ride, and some Beaver Creek pass cars that need new homes, along with the usual good "stuff".

There's also some nice stuff getting auctioned off to benefit the fire house.

See you there!

Ron,

0 scale two (2) rail and any three rail that can be converted to two rail.  0n30 and 0n3 are both 0 scale so they can pop up at Strasburg.  It's not a multi scale general train show but rather a neat gathering of a segment of the hobby.

Many 3 rail folks come to scarf up the 0 scale buildings, people and scenery items.

Plus most all 3 rail cars can be converted to 3 rail.

I have been able to pick up many unique custom buildings attractively priced.

Turntables also show up frequently.

I will have some large Sunset PRR engines and scenery material.

Is the show in the Strasburg Fire House?

Yes!

What scales tend to predominate there, O, 027, S ?

As Tom stated: "0 scale two (2) rail and any three rail that can be converted to two rail.  0n30 and 0n3 are both 0 scale so they can pop up at Strasburg.  It's not a multi scale general train show but rather a neat gathering of a segment of the hobby."

Does include structures and generally some scenery stuff and all that's rail number indifferent.

Dear Marty, et al,

Forgot to mention Rich had asked me to organize some clinics that 2 and 3 rail scale modelers can utilize

Quick trees in minutes !!!

Pine trees from heating filters !!!

Pizza box weathering !!!

Value added fun at the Strasburg show

See you on Saturday!!

I always wondered about this show...regarding structures, are there MTH, Lionel, and Woodland Scenics buildings, or is it predominantly scratch built or kits that are available?

I've had Woodland Scenics structures on my tables in the past that I could not sell at any price.  All of my scratchbuilt and kit-built structures have been selling reasonably well over the past couple years.

Thanks, if I wasn't going to the York meet next week it'd be an easier decision to visit the Strasburg show. As it is, I haven't been to York in about two decades, holy smokes how time goes by; and finances being tight I am limited in what I can accomplish.

Regarding buildings, I find it odd that our hobby, that is the "O-gauge" hobby, seems focused on engines galore whereas structures are limited. I think this is an O-gauge aspect, whereas HO scale has an incredible selection of structures available. The only reason I can think of is that O-gaugers are more into collecting, whereas HO modelers are more into building layouts.

I've made the same observation many times - and it's not about selection - there's actually a rather large selection of O scale kits and kit makers out there. A good number of those vendors do the All O meet and O narrow meet in Harrisburg.

It does however seem to be an O scale pattern - the same guy with $2-3k of brass in hand tends to look at a $20 structure as "too expensive",

Pushing back against non train issues it seems a though I will be at Strasburg.

I will have bags of Hydrocal, Structo-lite & Sculpt A Mold.  Plus 6" wide rolls of plaster wrap.

Kadee couplers, Atlas Snap Relays and lengths of flexible clear plexiglass for protective deck edges.

Several large Sunset PRR steam.

About structures... before the public was let in l saw structure kits going out.  Apparently bought  by other table holders....with "first grabs".  I found none.   Has been a long time, decades, problem that does not incentivise me to attend shows, although a few once had an upcharge early admission.  Seemed tables were empty and fewer people, probably due to Timonium.   But T. had few O structure kits, just one pricey kit of interest to me., so was barron, too.   Really a lot of HO structure kits there, though, including old ones from out of hiding.  So get there today for those.

Another Great Strasburg show !!!

Hats off to Rich and Rachel Yoder !!

A SPECIAL THANKS to those who contributed toward the auction which raised about $1,200 for the Strasburg Fire Company.

$10.00 freight cars  $250.00 /$300.00 brass steam locos  and lots of track !!

The most important thing was the good fellowship and also seeing some new faces  in the crowd

Best sales day I've ever had at Strasburg,    Better than 50% of the content of the 6 tubs and more that I brought went to a new home.  Saw and talked with lots of folks that I only get to see at shows and meets.  All around good  (except for the last 15 miles home around the DC Beltway, )

Only thing that did not sell were the kits for cars and structures I had on my table.  Half of the built up structures did sell though so that's a good acceptable ratio.

Found a few packs of useful detail parts for building cars that I mildly splurged on to take home.  Probably will have 6 tubs again by next April - more cars to get built over the next 6 months.  Winter is coming.....

Auction items sold at noon raised more than $1k for the Fire Dept.  Way to go to buyers!

Photos of clinics held at yesterday ‘s Strasburg meet.

clinics were presented by

Kerry Kime - making pine trees from heater filters

John Dunn- Quick trees-sedum trees

                      Pizza box weathering

We will be continuing our clinics at the 2023 Strasburg April show . More on that later.

I’d like to see or know which brass steam sold in that range? Sunset, Williams ..mint or a mess? If I were a dealer I would be really worried. Thank you.

The Yarmouth X31f was the star; built, painted & lettered with the buyer choice or proper trucks from Rich Y. in regular or P48 - $900 or $950.

Thank you. I was really interested in what the building went for as  friend was thinking of bidding on it and he told me his what his max bid would be. BTW, I did tell him that the boxcar would go for north of $500.00 although I did not think that it would be in the Arctic range!.
