Good Morning Everyone ,

I will start off with a couple of pictures of the steel mill I am rebuilding. Let's see all the projects everyone has been working on including the ones from the past. I see a lot of new faces on the forum and they probably have not seen all the previous great projects you have all displayed.20220212_09420420220212_09415020220212_094359

Wow, Pete.  Just wow.  Great work as well to Sirt and Alan.

I tend to jump around on different projects when I get "stuck" or get "inspired".  So the last two weeks have been frenetically working on the South Street diner interior.  Based on different modeling tips I've found on the forum and internet, I've been building up the serving area with basswood and scrap pine and put quite a few hours into Tinkercad and 3d printing for the kitchen area.  Here's some snippets of what I have thus far, and I may have this together later today given enough free time.  Everything takes 3 coats of paint but the more I do the better it looks.  Been listening to 50's music also to get myself into the diner experience...

Took some time to get the sizing right but it comes together...

Spent some time with internet searches getting dimensions for commercial equipment then sizing it to 1:50.

The dark color hides a multitude of Plasticville and Peter "sins".......however, I am very pleased how it turned out.

Have a great weekend, folks

I’m a long term lurker of the showcase and scenery forum. I haven’t really participated but I’ve always admired seeing everyone’s work.

A few months ago I was inspired to pickup an Atlas 6903 Trackside Shanty and Elevated Gate Tower kit. At $10 for the set I was excited to see what I could do with it. As an urbanite with no layout space, it seemed like a nice way to scratch the train itch.

After a few months of slow work, I wrapped up the elevated gate tower. Here are a few shots of the process and finished product. Project highlights for me were: 1. Evan Designs lighting to for effects like the glowing potbelly stove. It looks great through the large windows. 2. I used microscope slide cover glass to create the windows. I figured why not! 3. Altoona Model Works shingles do an amazing job of sprucing up a plain molded roof.

This is my first kit, so I certainly learned a lot. The second structure in the 2-pack is moving along much faster!
