Dear All who are more familiar with the SuperChuffer than I am,

I recently purchased a engine with a super chuffer (Lionel 6-38055). I was running it today, turned the power off to switch another train, then powered the track. I must have accidentally pressed a wrong button because now, when I run the engine, the headlight and cab light pulse in unison with the chuff, i.e. if slow speed, slow pulse, fast speed, fast pulse. When in "neutral" the headlight is normal dim, but the cab light is off. I will add a video soon.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Nickstrains.

OK, my diagnosis is it's likely the smoke fan motor is drawing excessive current and dragging down the Super-Chuffer power supply.  I suspect a new fan motor will probably fix it.  If the fan motor draws more than around 70ma, it'll start to load down the power supply.  It appears the Super-Chuffer is losing it's 5V supply and restarting every time the motor is pulsed.
