I had to the chance to participate in Midwest Railway Preservation Society, Engineer for an hour program.  Highly recommend these types of programs to anyone with any level of interest.  Having no previous experience with any RR, except Lionel Lines,  it was thrilling to be up close, hands on the throttle and learn the safety, maintenance and operation of real equipment.  All in addition to restoration efforts.  There are some dozen or so efforts around the country, so check them out and become part of railroad preservation history.

It'd be nice to see the #4070 back on the rails in service, once again.  Must be close to 20 years since she last worked on the Cuyahoga Valley RR.  And, with the work being done in the same location on the Reading T-1 #2100, it would seem possible that scenes like the two engine double headed in 1977 might be possible once again.  Hope I live long enough to see that!

My "association" with the #4070 goes back to about 1969 or 1970 when Dick Jenson, former owner of the #5629 GTW USRA Pacific, "borrowed" the #4070 for fan trips out of Chicago, one of which got all tied up on the GTW main line and didn't return to Chicago until early the next morning!   This was in the days before Amtrak and operators were allowed a great deal of "license" operating on the various railroads, but were still subject to FRA regulations like the 16 hour law, and the fan trip had run into all kinds of problems, finally ending when the crew couldn't continue any longer.

My understanding is that #4070 funding is thru MWPS and the T-1  is being housed while another group carries out restoration.  Both in a roundhouse that itself is being restored.  Cuyahoga Valley RR is now  Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and has hosted NKP 765 several times.  Wonderful excursions, looking forward to it again.
