It's Switcher Saturday Time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT (gratiously hosted by Tom @MNCW), you should go take a look, it was lots of fun!

This week at the RiCHY (Richmond, Chesapeake, Hudson Yard) we have NYC 0-8-0 #9000 back in action!
(MTH Railking 30-1255-1 pre-production model)

90DCD4DA-F523-4335-B572-4C6D0F266E32

This engine was basically "dead" for a year, but I recently hired someone to get her going again, it runs great in conventional and I'll be testing it out on DCS tonight or tomorrow I think.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, enjoys their weekend, and when you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

All the best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

While walking in a train show two months ago I spotted that nice little locomotive. It has been made by a talented modeler many years ago and it is an all brass model in three rail O gauge very well built. Maybe I will repaint it to have a more original look similar to the preserved model which is more colorful.

After some researches it appears to be a model of the Swiss Limatt locomotive based on a US patent of the Norris locomotive works in Philadelphia.

The Norris company produced one thousand steam loco from 1832 to 1866 and a great number has been exported through all the world

The first swiss railway line opens in 1847 and this model was the first to be used to haul a four car passenger train. The name of the loco comes from the Limatt river which was along the line.

The preserved model from a swiss museum is a replica, the original didn’t survive.

Happy SWSat!

Welcome back Rich! That's a beautiful switcher. Good luck with the DCS programming. If it works please let us know what was wrong with it, inquiring minds want to know...

That's a beautiful old loco Daniel. I like how they didn't even build a cab for the engineers on these old trains.

Mike and Bill nice switchers.

Rusty- guess even the mightiest can be switchers too.

Lee- Love that NW-2. Can't get enough of the pull-mor growl.

I started swapping out some cars on the layout yesterday. Been running the same stuff for so long that I decided it was time to make a change.

This week PRR 2121 A-A ALCO is pulling the annual Yuengling Holiday Excursion Train. The train will be running through the New Year! Obviously the beer will be running too

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and that all Turkey Coma effects have worn off!

Bob

Hey Lee - you could post that switcher every week and I can personally tell you that each time you do you're making each one of us smile when we see it, nothing to be sorry about - I love that thing.

Great work to the rest of you Switcher fans too - I'm off to my in-laws for some brunch, will catch you guys later tonight or tomorrow morning...Rich

Hey Bob, the board was fried on the thing, so after saving up enough of my "lunch/milk money" I had a fellow forum member (GGG) take a look at it, and revive it with an upgrade it to PS3.  It ran awesome in conventional yesterday, so I'm looking forward to running it on someone's DCS tonight or tomorrow (I only have TMCC at home).

Yay! SWSat is on!

This week I have a few 2 rail switchers from the NYSME layout another weird project and a prototype I saw on line I thought was interesting.

Here is an Erie Baldwin

Here is a SusieQ EMD

Here is my Project 50 ft eight hatch Reefer. I think this was a Walthers kit. It needs a lot of work.

E239CDB2-EDF2-4341-B8EA-6CB7EA2A7B67

Here is a non train item but I have seen Plenty of Helium cars on layout but never a Helium Truck. This is one of the four trucks for the Macy’s Parade balloons. I caught it Wednesday on my way to work.

Last up an interesting beast I found on line. I guess that is a heavy duty exhaust filter.

Have a great weekend guys.

Ouch Andre. I am a little offended by your questioning of my character.

Haha.

These are definitely O scale. We just ripped that middle rail right out we are not running subway trains. Anyway it is "O scale or no scale" right?

LOL!

Well, those engine models are really nice (HO has a lot of nice stuff so wondered)... and the track switch machines look hauntingly like Altas HO switches.

However, after looking more closely at the models and track, I decide that those must be O scale.

Nice stuff!

Andre

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone. Late from getting my car back from the (auto) body shop.

Rich, thanks for the kind words and for getting us started.  Great pictures everyone.

My contribution is a picture from what I had tested as a possible future layout for that glorious day when I can retire, why can't it be sooner rather than later?

They are Atlas switches but Atlas O from the 70's. I think they just blew up the design.

They are super tight radius in an area of the layout not exposed to the public. But good for switching and DCC equipped.

BrianSM, those Michigan Limestone switchers look great.

Andy, can't make out the logo on the switchers with the big exhaust but the background looks like they're running right along the beach.  I wonder if they're mufflers more than filters.  From the lights on the cabs I believe those two units are remote control.

Johan, Shark Bay travels very nicely.  You included that first photo in another thread, the only 3 rail in your post.  I didn't realize it was SBR until I read your response to another forum member.

JHZ563, it's never too late for SWSAT.

WOW! Now that's an interesting way of modifying the Plasticville simulated stucco suburban station! [Red English style homes]

and the unique use of the Plasticville Schoolhouse walls [Green and Brown] is impressive as well!

PRRHORSESOECURVE: Thanks, but all front buildings are 3D printed buildings. I enclose one picture, then you can see how they looking an another side. The interior & lights comes later.

Joe: Thanks. The trip was hard but very nice. Shark Bay was only 3 rail layout if we don´t count H0 -Märklin layouts.
