Not sure if this is the right place to post it here, but it would appear that there is a TCA "Event" this Sunday in Cranberry, PA. I know nothing about these, and I am not a member. I have a couple of questions;

- Do you have to be a member to get in?
- Is there buy/sell/trade?
- Are these generally pretty fun to attend?

I know the big meet in York was probably great, but that wasn't in the cards for me. I would like to experience something better than the Greenburg show, seeing as the one I went to last year around this time was kind of a let down.

Please feel free to move this to the right place or chime in with info if you have it. Help a new guy off to a good start Smile

Thanks!!!

I am a frequent attendee of the Fort Pitt TCA meet.

The member meet starts at 9AM, the general public are allowed in at 10AM.

There is an admission fee, I think it's $10 (?), can't honestly remember.

The hall they use has been jammed packed the last several trips I have made, LOTS of deals to be had, LOTS of tables to look at, LOTS of products to drool over. It is better than the greenberg monroeville show in my opinion. 90% of the products there are o-gauge.

The Fort-Pitt Independent Hi-Railers have their layout there and running in all it's glory, it is truely one of my favorite things to watch while I'm there.

I would say the atmosphere is usually upbeat and kid friendly. I personally have enjoyed all my trips to Cranberry, I think it's worth the time if you are looking to complete collections or looking for deals.

Maybe he wants a local show better than the local Greenberg show. Roll Eyes Go back to checking if everyone has their email listed

Better than the Greenberg show for sure.

I think non members pay $6 per adult but I'm not sure. Kids are free unlike Greenberg.

I usually attend both this show and Greenberg in Monroeville. Even though Greenberg has downsized to only one side of the convention center, it is still larger than the Fort Pitt show. Many of the same vendors sell at both shows. I have found a greater selection of O gauge items at Greenberg versus Fort Pitt. It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

Just a quick minor correction - our group, the Fort Pitt Hi-Railers, will be set up at the TCA show in Cranberry this Sunday. Pittsburgh is blessed with two major O scale modular clubs, the other being the Pittsburgh Independent HiRailers. Both have impressive displays.
Walt - what I said was correct. There are more vendors from eastern PA like Grybowski(sp) and East Coast parts at Greenberg. You also have the large train books area that Greenberg provides. Brady also has more stuff at Greenberg than at Fort Pitt. The last show I went to, I was looking for the new Lionel aquarium car - found it at three vendors and got a great price. John Brady seems to be the only vendor with good prices on new Lionel and MTH at Fort Pitt. Hard to find parts also at Fort Pitt.

Now, all the above being said, I have also attended Fort Pitt shows where I did find some great bargains on old and new merchandise, and conversely - I have gone to many a Greenberg show and wondered why I bothered.

Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.

Kids have been admitted free to Greenberg shows for about the past ten years. The Greenberg show is about 550 tables but it's an all-scale show with a variety of O, HO, N, G and S.

Last time I went I paid for my 14 year old

Greenberg shows and the Fort Pitt TCA show are alike, in that kids under 12 are free.

$5 admission for adults at Fort Pitt, regardless of TCA membership or not. The only thing membership gets you is admittance one hour before the public.

$7 admission for adults to Greenberg.

"TCA members non-member Spouse or children under 18 FREE" read your meet notice.

Jaygee like matt said Bill was at the last meet. probably be at this one also. Well I hope so I need some port-hole windows for a F3
I also thought it was very good. Lot of people. I got the parts I was looking for as well.

It seems to me as a buyer I am able to work the price down easier at this show than at Greenberg. Maybe because there are "part-time" sellers at the TCA shows vs. Greenberg. Either way I enjoy them both equally and do not miss one!
