We had taken these pictures last year when my wife and I were on
a Missions Trip in Alaska, I thought that you might enjoy them and
it gave me an opportunity to upload a few picture.
Both were taken at Denali.

Great photos! We were up in Alaska 6 yrs. ago & rode both the Alaska RR & the White Pass & Yukon narrow gauge; the WP&YR was the #1 tourist RR in the country - and may still be now. Incredible country!
What's see what I can do from our trip last year ;-)
For anyone who rode both the Alaska RR and White Pass & Yukon, can you say which is better?
I'm planning on the Alaska RR trip from Anchorage to Seward and possibly the WP & Yukon - i might do that one from Fraser to Skagway.
I think they are both great, but might have to choose only one.
Depending on which day you ride the WP&Y, you could have a steam locomotive pulling your train. Best to contact the WP&Y about steam schedules.
Something I have wondered since that is the one state I've missed...you can drive the
Alcan Highway, but there is no rail connection from Alaska through Yukon/Northwest
Territories that is going to put Alaska RR cars into Seattle...correct? In other words
it/they is/are captive railroads?

Yes, both railroads in Alaska are isolated. Thus everything that comes and goes from/to either the Alaska RR or the WP&Y, moves by barge, generally from Seattle.
My favorite railroad, as amply demonstrated by the 40+ O gauge Alaska RR locomotives adorning my walls and layout, with several more on the way in the near (I hope) future.
I'm also doing my best to accumulate as many Alaska RR books and videos as I can get my hands on simply because I enjoy studying the history of the prototype road.
Thanks for posting the photos, Dennis!
Great pictures! What an amazing line to work on.
Allan did you ever get this engine in:

You said you were going to order it and I want pictures. Quit hoarding everything.
Love the pictures of Alaska! My family and a few friends are counting the days till we go back and ride the rails again. This time under steam power on the WP&YR and another Alaska R.R. ride out of Anchorage to Talkeetna. Wish you all could join us, I'll post pictures when I get back. Happy rails to you, Bruce
I have this picture a friend sent me from Alaska. It is from 2008. I believe that the Alaska Railroad Corp. makes one of these pictures a year. I love the colors of the Alaska engines but I don't model them at all. If anyone would like the picture let me know and I will mail it to you free of charge. It has just been sitting on my shelf still in the tube. its about 14 inches high by 24 inches long
I certainly would not mind having that picture, Jeff, but if someone else steps up before e please give him or her first consideration.
JEFF,
CONGRATS, as that pic is certainly going to the right individual !!!!!
can you look on the tube or anywhere for information. as the Alaska was/is my
1st , and that engine looks exactly like the Williams, SD 90, I just got from Trainworld. I might be able to internet search for the website of the pics
thanks
The Alaska Railroad puts a Print out every year. They have signing sessions with the artist when they release them. Past Prints & Posters can be found on their website.
www.akrr.com in the Giftshop
Here's a website full of History & stuff of the ARR
thanks,
Just got the 2013 print on the way
Allan, if you shoot me am email with address I'll get it out to you.
TGP I believe RK gave you good direction with that web site.

They were SD70Mac's in 2008, probably still running today.

I have only been able to see, that these models, are in the upper range(price)
or style ( legacy), is this possibly correct !!
