I will order the following for sure:

PS-4 flats with Piggybacks

Express Refer set w/sound.

N5B from the coal Hauler set if I can find a break-up.

Santa Fe Map Car set

Area 51 Green liquid car. (RTR Catalog)

I'm on the fence about the E8's in Santa Fe as I want to see them first (or at least a better photo from a pre-production tooling).

3 pack of the PFE refers with freight sounds for sure.

Not sure about the other 3 pack PFE with no sounds (I have to think about that) since there's nothing really special for that price other than it matches up the freight sound 3 pack.

May be a N5b caboose in Pennsy and LIRR.

This definitely was an awesome catalog!  I trying very hard to not buy one or more of many Legacy Engines that caught my eye like the VL Big Boy, H7, Y2, S2, E8, F3, or a Legacy Crane and Boom cars...

There is just way too much desirable product than my budget will allow.

Sadly, there was no Stationsounds dinner cars for the Blue Comet and the Southern Crescent.  I was really hoping to add that to my roster.

I rationalise that because it's all build to order I must buy now or forever hold my peace.

Already in for a VL BB. Already have the 2005 TMCC AC-12 cab forward BUT if they are re-using its tooling that is no bad thing because it was beautifully made AND now there's whistle steam and Legacy control. Plus, while reasonable minds could certainly differ on this I am probably going for the imaginary Daylight scheme. The catalog does not show how they are painting the tender but this image is in Lionel's online description:

P.S. Whiners and moaners will no doubt complain about the above; so be it. For anyone who does there's a prize for spotting the clanging mistake in the catalog description of this model, which I am not fooled by and so can't complain later!

***Gaaack!  Choke!***

Okay, how do I unsee that?

NO WHINING OR RIVET COUNTING ALLOWED, despite the fact that I know you're an expert and there's a devoted SP person on this forum who will no doubt agree with you.

Lionel could have offered this model in an SP gray boiler scheme . . . But I'll be happy with the one above.

What do I NEED?  Nothing, of course.  What will I order?   Well, in spite of Lionel's missing the boat on a Milwaukee Road version of the USRA Heavy Mike, I guess I will be ordering on of the so-called, pilot models.  Then I'll have it painted, correctly, may make a change to a detail or two, and have it lettered for the "road".  So, instead of $1200 bucks for my Mike, by the time all of the changes are made to correct Lionel, I'm sure I'll have $1500 bucks in it.

Not too much else lights my fire.

  • The Vision PFE reefer set with Freightsounds
  • The Caboose on that page, too.
  • The ATSF map-slogan cars: brown instead of orange.  Gotta have some
  • The Southern Horrific Pacific Fright Express reefer: too good of a pun to pass up.
  • One or both UP MOW cabooses

Not a single loco I have to have: first time that has ever happened.   But maybe a scale Berkshire - I'm on the fence - if they had it in ATSF or UP, yes, definitely, but I'd have to repaint/re-label it and I have so many projects backed up to do now anyway.   And it has occurred to me, particularly since the gold one is only $50 more, how perversely cool it would be to buy that and repaint it in ATSF or UP black.

I WANT IT ALL, AND I WANT IT NOW!!!

OK. Back to reality. I will be ordering (For now at least.) some PFE cars, an NS Tie-Jector, one of the crane sets (I haven't decided which one yet.), an Amtrak Lionchief set, and I just can't resist getting a Cab-Forward, even though it won't run on my sharp curves.

Then, after I recover from the surgery from selling a few organs, I hope to order a whole lot more. This is a truly great catalogue.

After a quick look.

The Hall Class is a nice surprise. Let's hope the sound package is correctly British and does not include a bell sound. If so it might be a must have.

Legacy Crane.

Scale Berkshire Polar Express with the cars! Maybe....

Lots of nice looking sets in the RTR.

Any one check out the Holiday Memories, wholly cow Lionel Christmas tack overload I may have to go have a little lay down. Ok they got me, I am in for a Polar Express yard flag

I want an Oompa Loopmpa now!

Everyone knows that the Pacific Fright Express was a joint venture between the Union Horrific and the Southern Horrific.  None of the reefers ever had the "Be Specific" slogan on them, and even then, it would have been "Be Specific - Ship Union Horrific"

I mean really Lionel, do we have to go to HO to get prototypically accurate Pacific Fright Express reefers?

Personally speaking, I would agree.  However, from our (LHS) customers' viewpoint here in Meeeshigan, the Ann Arbor FA's are a gift from the train gods!!   Kudos to Lionel for getting this long-overdue job done!   (Now, Lionel, DON't go doing something stupid and putting them on the forthcoming cancellation list for this catalog!!!!)

Of course, as with so many of these flights of fantasy, they could've skipped the FB's for the Annie....they never had any.   Now THAT one could be painlessly cancelled, IMHO.

Customers at our store will also enjoy the PM tanker, the DT&I crane/tender, the automotive-related monster cars (several), et al.

Oh, and yes, the PM 1225...just down the road and under steam again!

For moi?....   The ATSF Maps 5-pack...period....thank heavens!   ("And lead us not into temptation..."!)
