It has been three years and one month since service to Munoz was interrupted. Today, Mayor Ginny Munoz took to the town center and announced that service to New York City and points west has been restored. The town is jubilant. Trains will run from New York through to Philadelphia and then on to Kansas City and Munoz. Grand Central Terminal has been fully restored, power to all tracks below the Terminal is complete and the subway is running. Electrified service is now available to Philadelphia and on to Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Steam service is available from Grand Central Terminal in the form of the Empire State Express now running daily.

Zimmerman steam yard is fully operational with the newly renovated roundhouse and its associated diesel building on the premises. Thirteen tracks now serve the steam facility. Superintendent Scrapiron Scher reports that miscellaneous switch control, almost complete on spur tracks will be completed by the end of the week. Trains are now arriving at Kansas City Union Station. The Tropicana manufacturing facility is complete and the Juice Train pulled by CSX locomotives is running daily to the New York City environs.

GG-1 urban corridor module is coming along. We're working from left to right here. Flyover factory and tunnel portals went in today.

Scrapiron Scher announces that any OGR Forum members who would like a tour of the line on December 30 are welcome to send an e-mail. ALL ABOARD !!

Can't wait!!!!

Elliot apparently I have missed most of photos of your progress will be nice to see them when available and hope you have many years of enjoyment running the new layout. or possibly you can steer me to another post where they reside?

NUMBER 90  I believe Amtrak is in talks with Munoz lines to add special cars and free transport to catch the needed Amtrak train so those from far away places can arrive in time to see and visit the newly created Munoz lines and affiliate railroads. this will allow travelers to enjoy the scenery passing by and relax while the engineer and conductor take care of the rest.

The really good news is that I have finished the wiring. The last toggles and LED's went into Panel Two tonight and all track is wired. Done, Completo. Finito. I cannot express in words how I dislike wiring. Now, most, if not all of the work is scenery which I love to do. Buildings and scenes and people and lights, yahoo . . . . Ooooops, I forgot. Lights need wires. **** !

86TA355SR, I did consider narrow gauge but digital control and the difficulty of On3, not On30 was too much of a problem. The sound and the "lightshow" in O scale was too much to miss.

Peter, lots more pics coming as soon as I have something close to finished in this urban corridor module.

Mike, When the catenary is in and the Vision GG-1's are running, it will be quite a show !!

Dennis, Many of my friends would tell you I am not very balanced. Unlike our President, I am not a genius and not stable, either. I did not remember how much work a new layout is, much less one as big and as complex as this one. Hopefully, there will be lots of pictures because it might kill me.

Rockstars, Many thanks. As an artist, I am always concerned with how my photographs appear to others. When I do an art show, I am most critical of myself and when a photograph sells, I am proud that someone voted with their dollars. I recently performed a guitar gig in front of a bunch of folks who had no idea I am musically declined. I was terrified, but I also received nice applause. Yay !! When I post a photo of my railroad I am always concerned that it be perfect. In this case, I offered a statement of full disclosure hoping to minimize the criticism of anyone. I DO WELCOME criticism that is well intentioned because that is how my work improves.

Short IPhone video update. The IPhone does take HD video but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to upload the highest quality to the Tube. I guess I will just have to set up the serious equipment and do this correctly. Very sorry for the terrible quality. The scenery at Lauria Road is about 90% complete and the video illustrates the issues that have to be addressed. Final structures and the catenary are yet to come.

Thanks, Dave. I am not completely happy with the rail color as I think it is too reddish/rusty. It needs to be a more mellow brown/gray. I simply hit it with Rustoleum primer because I did not want to spend crazy time on the rail weathering. I have tried the basics in the past. Color pens, markers, airbrush, etc. This is the fastest though not a perfect color for a main line. The ballast is Scenic Express mixed but it is not yet finished. I plan to weather the ballast as well as some weathering chalk on the sides of the rails. Check back in a week or so for the next update. I need to address those issues as well as install catenary and a few other fixes.
